IT'S
MUNDY BY A YARD!
Pat Mundy, one of only five players left from the original 12
of 1992, claimed his first Bookie Pool Crown when Tennessee was
stopped just short of the goal line. Mike Tatum, another member
of the original 12, would have won his first title had Tennessee
scored, regardless of the outcome in overtime. Instead, Mike
was again forced to settle for a 2nd place finish, his 2nd in
a row and amazingly his third in 4 years. Here are the Final
Standings. I have also updated the Career
Statistics, including the oft requested upgrade to include
real money winnings.

Jeff Nelson's tie-breaker total of 156 set a new Hall
of Fame record, beating the old mark of 161 set by Pat Mundy in '96. Pat
Mundy set the record for most real money won in a season. Al Buddy joined
the Hall of Lame by setting the record for the
most play money lost with a single bet.
Several
new Hall of Fame career marks were established.
Larry Williams moved past Larry Allen into career first place for most play
money won with $25,790. Neil Faucet moved into first place for career winning
percentage, Jeff Nelson moved into first place for career tie-breaker, and
Mike Comstock moved into first place for career plus-6 winning percentage.
There were also some Hall of Lame career marks
established. Jeff Nelson took aver worst record percentage, and Brian Starbuck
secured worst +6 record position.
Other Interesting tidbits: If Tennessee had simply covered,
Chip & Dale would have won 4th place despite going into the Super Bowl
with only $100. This was the second Super Bowl since the pool started in '92
to push. The last time was 1996 (another year
where Mike coincidentally finished in 2nd). If Pat would have covered instead
of pushed, he would have broken the all-time record for most play money won
in a season. If he missed his pick, he would have set the record for most
play money lost with a single bet. The default paid off for Pete Valdez.
He ended up earning a net 3 dollars for the year, despite never turning in
a pick!
Records indicate that Larry Wales has been the pool's biggest
contributor over the years. On behalf of the pool, we would like to extend
our warmest thanks, and let you know you will always be welcome. There will
always be a chair with your name on it! Oh, and as the biggest real money
winner to date, I would like to thank you for that addition I've added to
my deck! :) (sorry, couldn't resist!)
